SLM Toyota Uckfield Supports Local Club

The Dream Start

Ben Nash, local Professional Tour Golfer, could not have dreamt of a better start to his new sponsorship arrangement with St Leonards Motors Ltd.

Just a couple of weeks after the deal with SLM and Ben was sealed, Ben, from Cooden, won his first ever tour event on the TP Tours Series at Knole Park Golf Course in Kent. The result put him inside the top 20 on the Tour prize money list.

Ben, based at Cooden Beach Gold Club, held off a strong challenge from the field to record his first ever professional tournament win. Right until the last moments the leader in the clubhouse was six times winner this year, Francis McGuirk. With only one group left on the course, McGuirk was in the top spot with a score of 67. However with three consecutive birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th, Ben came in with a 66, four under par and winner by one shot.

“When Ben and his management team came to chat to us we knew that he had talent,” noted SLM Managing Director, Ian Wakeford, also a member of Cooden Beach, “but I guess none of us expected Ben to win quite so quickly.  It’s fantastic news and just the springboard he needs to go on to bigger and better things.”

Ben, pictured with his new Vauxhall Astra supplied by SLM, was delighted with his success and is now planning a full season next year where he hopes to add to his early tally.  

 

SLM Toyota Uckfield Supports Local Club

When SLM Toyota in Uckfield was looking for a local organisation to sponsor they knew they’d found the one when they came across Wealden Bowls Club.

After an exceptionally warm welcome from Peter Menniss and Eddie Lovegrove SLM Toyota decided that Wealden Bowls Club was a great place to grow their Centre’s profile and help a local club.

Wealden Bowls Club officially opened its doors in November 1985. Over the last 26 years the club has gone from strength to strength and prides itself on being a welcoming, inclusive environment. From novices to experienced bowlers, all are welcome to come and enjoy the indoor and outdoor facilities.Members are encouraged to take part in both county and national competitions and the club also provides bookable roll-up sessions, club drives, internal club leagues, club competitions in singles, pairs, triples and rinks for ladies, gentlemen or mixed. The club also runs ladies’ and men’s teams in the county league. So as you can see, there’s plenty for everyone!

SLM Toyota have erected two signs in the indoor bowls club, as well as sponsoring both the fixture and score cards. In addition, if a club member buys a car from SLM Toyota in Uckfield then the dealership donates £50 to Wealden Bowls Club.
